How Ridiculous

On April 8 2011 Urban Descent provided Kyle Nebel from the How Ridiculous team with an opportunity to make a basketball shot from the top of the WACA Light Tower. Pending approval this shot seems certain to become the official Guinness World for the highest basketball shot ever made. The final distance was calculated to be 66.89m which obliterated the previous record which was 30m. The ring was some 50m from the base of the tower and the direct distance measured was just over 82 meters. The successful shot took just under 3 hours to complete. A pulley system rigged by Urban Descent assisted the process of returning the basketballs to the top of the tower to allow the attempts to continue until the successful shot.

Brett Stanford for How Ridiculous:

We are really thankful for Urban Descent for helping us to make this shot a reality. We were not sure we would ever get the chance to make a shot from the WACA light tower and to be able to do it was amazing and we are really grateful. Part of the vision of How Ridiculous is to encourage people to live selflessly and give generously and Urban Descent is an event that encompasses that really well by supporting the PMHF. The exposure we continue to receive through the world record shot helps us to promote Compassion and releasing children from extreme poverty which we are very thankful for.
